Karlsruhe, Germany

138_3816.JPG Here we are with my baby cousin Elias.  We visited him in Karlsruhe.

138_3819.JPG We stayed for a week in an apartment in Reichenbach, near Karlsruhe.  Mariele is watching me play checkers with my older sister, Adele.  I have my Frog pajamas on.

138_3820 JPG Our kitchen door was made of this weird glass.  If you stood behind it, you looked like a cartoon character.

138_3822.JPG This is my big sister climbing up the doorway.  I can do it too!  My little sister and I are under her.

138_3824.AVI (Big movie file, don't try it over the phone lines!) We went to a restaurant that had a really cool spiral slide that went from the third floor to the first floor.  I went down it about 200 times.

138_3827.AVI (Big movie file, don't try it over the phone lines!) I am coming out of the bottom of the slide.

138_3830.AVI (Big movie file, don't try it over the phone lines!) My Dad took this video while he went down.

138_3866.JPG This is a castle way up on top of a hill.  We climbed up it.  The whole time, I was standing on old rock.

138_3867.JPG This is my baby second cousin Elias with my sisters and me, playing in a big sand pile along the way.

138_3870.JPG This is the top of the old rock, with part of the castle under us and part of it up above.  You can tell that this is sedimentary rock because you can see all the layers.

IMG_3683.JPG This is a town down below that we saw from the roof of the old rock.

138_3872.JPG Here we are at the top.

138_3879.JPG We are sitting on top of a well but the lid is on so don't worry about us falling in.  The well had to go down a long long long long long long long long long way to reach water.

138_3888.JPG When my Dad went back to America for a couple of days, we swam in an outdoor and an indoor pool and we went to a playground.  Here we are at the playground.  The rope thingy we are climbing has a bottom and two sides made of rope, so if you fall you land on rope.  The two other sides had no ropes on them.  You could climb out and be in another obstacle.  And you could keep doing that until you did everything on the playground.

138_3889.JPG Elias going down the slide.  It was the last obstacle, but hejust skipped all the other obstacles because he liked the slide.

138_3890.JPG A springy see-saw.  Two kids had to go on each side.

138_3891.JPG Another springy toy with four seats.  Just the right number!

138_3892.JPG We had the biggest ice creams in the world.  We could not finish them!  It was really hard to see all that chocolate go to waste!

138_3895.JPG This is us at a different playground.  We are on top of a big dome-like thing.  We couldn't get up so my Mom had to push us to get us up.  It was very hard but it was fun too.

139_3905.JPG We visited a city in France called Strasbourg.  We had lunch at a table outdoors here.  We are playing hide-and-seek-tag in this picture.

139_3906.JPG In this town in France there was a big metal rock.

139_3910.JPG This is the cathedral in Strasbourg.  It's the second cathedral I've seen on this trip.  It is really big.

139_3907.JPG The clock inside the cathedral is very famous because it has so many gears and moving parts and it was made hundreds and hundreds of years ago, way before there was electricity.  And if it was off by a minute each year, it would be way off now.

139_3908.JPG These are some of the gears of the clock.  See what I mean about how many there are?  We got there for the 3:00 show but the clock said it was 2:15 so we only got to see a little bit of movement.

139_3913.JPG We were about to go on a boat ride around the city of Strasbourg when we saw these ducks in the water.  This little duckling looked so cute trying to keep up with its parents.

139_3915.AVI This is a very short movie of the duckling swimming after its parents.

139_3916.JPG We are on the tour boat.  We are listening to the head phones.  Channel 2 was in English.  They told us about the things we passed.  Strasbourg is an island because the river splits apart and then comes together again.  We went all the way around the island.  We went into a lock and they filled it up with water and we floated way up, then they opened a door and we continued at a higher level.  Then somewhere else on the loop, we went into another lock and floated down to the lower level again.

139_3923.JPG This is another church that we saw from the boat.  It's really tall.

139_3931.JPG My sisters and my cousin and I are in front of a really neat piece of art work.  It's in a pool that's empty now.  It's right next to the river, where we got off the boat.

139_3933.JPG Ice cream in French is "la glace".  I had strawberry sorbet.  Strawberry is "fragola" in Italian and "fraise" in French.

139_3934.JPG My little cousin had an ice cream cone.  At the end, I thought that most of it got on his clothes instead of inside his body.

139_3939.JPG We went to the zoo in Karlsruhe.  We saw these weird animals called antelope.

139_3940.JPG This is a funny bird.  I don't know what it's name is.  My Mom said it holds still for such a long time, nobody thinks it's going to do anything, but then, all of a sudden, SNAP! It snaps a fish right out of the water!

139_3942.JPG This is me at the top of a very cool jungle gym in a playground at the zoo.  It was so high, it looks hard to climb, and I was afriad I was going to fall.  But it turned out to be pretty easy.  I climbed up in less than a minute.  I'm not even at the top yet in this picture.
